Rebecca’s introduction
Rebecca arrived in series 22 of Thomas & Friends in 2018 and became a member of the Steam Team. She was introduced during the Big World! Big Adventures! reshaping of the CGI series, alongside Nia’s move into the main Sodor cast.
Her stories present her as cheerful and considerate, while her size gives her the strength for main-line and passenger work. She is sometimes associated with express duties also linked with Gordon.
How to recognise Rebecca
Rebecca has a bright yellow livery, a long boiler, a separate tender and the number 22. The tender is the clearest difference from Nia: Rebecca carries coal and water behind the locomotive, whereas Nia is a compact tank engine.
When buying a Rebecca model, check the exact product line as well as the character. Push-along, motorized plastic railway, wooden railway and model railway products can use different scales, couplings and track.
Which Thomas era includes Rebecca?
Rebecca belongs to the later full-CGI years of the original television series. She was not part of the Reverend W. Awdry Railway Series books or the classic physical-model television seasons.
This is why searches for “Rebecca classic series” can be confusing: fan videos or retro-styled toys may use that wording, but her canonical television introduction is in the CGI era. All Engines Go is a later, separate reimagining.
